Quesnel at a Glance
Located at the junction of the Fraser and Quesnel Rivers, the City of Quesnel
is the largest centre in the North Caribou region, due in large part to the region's
gold rush of 1862. Today, Quesnel's treasures come in all forms—its pristine natural
setting, an abundance of recreational opportunities and a colourful history. For
the recreational enthusiast, fly-fishing and canoeing are two of the area's favourite
pastimes. Hiking, wildlife viewing and nature photography are also popular within
the secluded confines of Pinnacles
Provincial Park. The Quesnel River is also one of the province's better white-water
rafting spots, with tours offering visitors an opportunity to experience a unique
rush. For those interested in the area's rich history, the Quesnel
Museum maintains over 30,000 artifacts pertaining to the history of the Quesnel
area. Be sure to check out Bill
Barker Days, which features British Columbia's largest amateur rodeo, a carnival
and over 150 other unique events.
